CCH® Browser Search 

CCH® Browser Search is changing the way subscribers search the Web. A FREE installable browser add-on, this feature instantaneously displays results from your CCH tax research product directly on the same page as results generated by your favorite search engine.

The CCH® Browser Search plugin allows users to view the results from CCH® AnswerConnect Canada in a dedicated frame on a web search results page (Google or Bing).

  1. The plugin must be installed from the CCH® AnswerConnect Help Menu on a user's regular browser (Chrome, Edge or Firefox).
  2. Activate the plugin by (i) logging in with your CCH® AnswerConnect credentials and (ii) selecting a jurisdiction.
  3. Run a search from your web search engine and view CCH® AnswerConnect search results displayed on your search results page.

 

Search

When browsing legislation, users can now initiate a search from a specific Part or Division of the Income Tax Act (ITA) and Excise Tax Act (ETA). The search results will be scoped to that specific Part or Division of the Act. 

  • From the homepage (Federal Income Tax tab or Indirect Taxes tab), click on "Browse Legislation" or "Browse the Excise Tax Act". 
  • Start your "scoped search"  from the search bar at the top, at the level of your choice:

When browsing books, users can now initiate a search not only across the entire book but also in a specific Chapter. The search results will be scoped to that specific Chapter. 

  • From the homepage (Online Books tab), select a title. 
  • Start your "scoped search"  from the search bar at the top, across the entire book or from a specific chapter:

 

Browsing Provincial Legislation 

Users can now browse all our provincial legislation from the homepage from: Provincial Tax (tab) > Provincial Tax (widget) > Browse Provincial Legislation (link).

 

Former Income Tax Act, 1970-71-72

Users can now browse the Former Income Tax Act, 1970-71-72 (French version) from: Federal Income Tax (tab) > Impôt fédéral (widget) > Parcourir la législation (page).

The Former Income Tax Act is at the bottom of the "Lois et règlements connexes" list on the Income Tax Act browse page.

 

Language Toggle in Legislation 

We've activated the language toggle at the paragraph level. Users can now seamlessly switch from Loi de l'impôt sur le revenu (French) to the Income Tax Act (English), and vice versa -at all level of the Act (incl. paragraph level). 

 

References in exported versions of Case Summaries 

When a user prints/downloads/shares the onscreen Case Law document, the information reflected in the Gray Box to the right of the page is now included in the exported version of the document (PDF or Word):

 

Exporting the ITA Interpreter 

Users who have access to the ITA Interpreter tab in the Income Tax Act 360 view, now have the option to print/download/share the document.
When printing/exporting the ITA Interpreter tab with an embedded tool, the actual state of the tool will be considered (e.g., a calculated example based on a given user's input).
If the tool was not edited, the document will be included in the printable/exported version in its default state.
